Difference Between Menopause and Andropause:
Many people in society have heard of the term “menopause”. Women are very aware that someday they will enter into menopause, Men, on the other hand, are usually unaware of the term andropause. Both menopause and andropause occur between the ages of 40 and 60 years old and are commonly listed under a variety of medical terms.
Menopause is defined when a woman’s menstrual periods permanently stop, this is also referred to as the “change of life”. Andropause is a gradual and highly variable decline in the production of androgenic hormones and especially testosterone in the human male together with its associated effects that is held to occur during and after middle age —called also climacteric, male menopause.
When a male is experiencing andropause, he will begin to see either a gradual or large amount of lowered testosterone levels. While a woman, however, will no longer be able to have children, this is untrue for a man after he has experienced andropause. The man’s sperm production will continue and he will be able to still have children well throughout his years. Menopause is one of the many natural reactions to an aging woman’s body. However, there are some variables that can cause menopause to set earlier in life.
One example is: women who drink excessive amounts of alcohol have certain hormone deficiencies, are obese or have a poor diet. These habits are trigger points for higher risk for earlier onset menopause. If a woman has her ovaries or uterus removed, this also increases the speed of the menopause process. A very common similarity that men and women experience between menopause and andropause is how quickly they are returned to how they were before they entered puberty.
Symptoms they experience during this process are usually very similar. Common symptoms that have been reported with both men and women are weight gain, hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness, vaginal dryness in women, erectile dysfunction in men, hair loss, low sex drive, brain fog among many others. Men and women both experience a lack in sexuality, which leads to loss of control of their bodies.
Many emotional variations such as mid-life crisis and other psychological issues will be noticed between both sexes. When going through these changes in life, your hormones will be on a rollercoaster just like they were when you began puberty. Both of these medical phases in life have available treatments that are effective and medically recognized to improve your life. The most common treatment of this is known as, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. This method is used for both men and women. This specific hormone therapy will help bring hormone levels back to regulated and normal levels. This method is a way to manage the source of the problem from its root cause. Many will experience great relief from negative menopause and andropause symptoms. While doing a bio-identical hormone therapy treatment, a doctor will carefully monitor the patient. Make sure the doctor is not just treating the symptoms but also helping the hormonal imbalance problem.
Many men and women throughout the world are experiencing the negative effects of menopause and andropause. With this being said, make sure you are obeying a healthy diet and exercise routine as well as educating yourself about the treatment and ongoing symptoms of menopause and andropause.
